The 105-kilometer Telemark Canal of Norway climbs from the sea past Skien (located 100 kilometers southwest of Oslo) either north to Notodden on a level river & lake cruise or through a series of locks northwest to Dalen in the center of steep mountainsides and deep lakes.
The Halden Kanal links several lakes, but does not connect into Sweden.
